Nestlé, whose global headquarters are in Vevey, Switzerland, was founded in 1866 by Henri Nestlé and is today the world’s leading Nutrition, Health and Wellness Company.
Nestlé employs 283,000 people and operates in nearly every country in the world. In 2008 its sales were CHF 109,9 billion, with a net profit of CHF 18 billion. Nestlé has a global network of 28 R&D Centres, which employ nearly 5,000 people.
Nestlé’s internal innovation capacity is extended through external partnerships. For example, in November 2006, Nestlé signed a five year agreement with the EPFL to contribute CHF 5 million per year for 5 years for collaborative research on the relationship between nutrition and the brain.
